Peddi


Peddi is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language sports action drama written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana. It is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings under the banner of Vriddhi Cinemas. The film stars Ram Charan as the titular role, alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu.
The film began with the working title of RC16 in March 2024, with official title being announced as Peddi in March 2025. Principal photography commenced in Mysuru on 22 November 2024 with filming taking place in Hyderabad, Colombo, Kanyakumari and Pune until November 2025. The original score and soundtrack album are composed by A. R. Rahman.
Peddi is scheduled to be theatrically released on 27 March 2026.

Development

In late-November 2022, Ram Charan confirmed his collaboration with Buchi Babu Sana for his next film. It was to be produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru's Vriddhi Cinemas and Sukumar Writings, Mythri Movie Makers to be the distributors. The film crew and actors who were playing pivotal characters in the film were announced through individual publicity posters shared through the social media handles of the production house. Accordingly, R. Rathnavelu as the cinematographer whereas Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu as a part of the film's cast. Vijay Sethupathi declined the role offered, as he preferred to play diverse in subsequent films rather than reprising a father figure again as he did in Buchi Babu Sana's Uppena. In January 2024, A. R. Rahman was brought onboard to compose the background score and music to the film. The production house scheduled auditions in Vizianagaram, Salur, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam to rope in additional actors. Jahnavi Kapoor was announced as the female lead on 6 March 2024. The film was launched under the working title RC16 on 20 March 2024 by Chiranjeevi in Hyderabad. The film was called out as a "rural, emotional and rustic journey" for the audience. Filming

Principal photography commenced in Mysuru on 22 November 2024. The director posted his picture with the film’s script in front of the Chamundeshwari Temple. Aalim Hakim was roped in to design the look for Charan. Kapoor stayed in Hyderabad through December 2024 to prepare for her character in the film. A few scenes were filmed at the Bhoot Bungalow in Hyderabad for 10 days. An action sequence was filmed near Moula Ali through five days in April 2025. In May 2025, production designer Avinash Kolla and his team have built village resembling Vizianagram in the outskirts of Hyderabad, where stunt and dramatic sequences were filmed. The team has recreated the 1980s coastal town with detailed sets and period-specific props. 30% of the filming was completed. By October 2025, the crew filmed a romantic number in Sri Lanka. In the Pune schedule, a dance number titled "Chkiri" choreographed by Jani Master was filmed at Savalya Ghat. 60% of the filming was completed, with the first half edited. In December 2025, an action sequence choreographed by Sham Kaushal was filmed in a steel factory in Hyderabad. It was face-off between Charan and Rajkumar.

Music

The original score and soundtrack album are composed by A. R. Rahman. He finished composing three tracks for the film by March 2024. The music rights were acquired by T-Series for.
The first single titled "Chikiri" was released on 7 November 2025 was released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi Malayalam and Kannada. In a video interview, Sana stated that he wanted Rahman to bring in the energy and soulfulness of "Humma" song. The word "Chikri" in Telugu language is alluded to women in Sana's village which inspired the track. He briefed Rahman that the song was about Peddi, mesmerised by the natural beauty of the character played by Kapoor. In the track, Charan was seen standing on a small hillock overlooking the village.
Upon its release, the song received 46 million views within 24 hours of release, creating an all-time record for Indian cinema.

Release

In March 2025, the title of the film was announced as Peddi. The first official poster was released on 6 April 2025, additionally, one-minute video teaser that introduces Charan in a rugged look, sporting long beard and nose ring.
The film is scheduled to release at theatres on 27 March 2026.

The post-theatrical digital streaming rights of the film were acquired by Netflix.
