Ubigi

Ubigi is a mobile connectivity service that uses eSIM technology. It has been operated since 2017 by Transatel, a telecommunications company founded in 2000, which became a subsidiary of the Japanese group NTT in 2019. Ubigi functions as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator with its own network code.
The service provides cellular data plans that enable internet access in over 200 destinations through an eSIM profile. Ubigi offers services for individual travelers, businesses, and connected vehicles. Its solutions are compatible with a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and certain vehicles.
To provide connectivity, Ubigi establishes agreements with local carriers in various countries. The service also supports 5G speeds in regions where the technology is available.
The Ubigi app, available for iOS and Android devices, allows users to monitor their data usage.

History

Ubigi was launched in 2017 as a global eSIM connectivity service. The service was initially introduced under the name Cellular Data and was targeted at laptops, which were among the first devices to integrate eSIM technology.
In 2018, the service was rebranded as Ubigi. Around the same time, eSIM-compatible smartphones, including Apple's iPhone XR and XS, entered the market, and the company established partnerships in the automotive sector. These developments expanded the service beyond laptops to other consumer electronics and connected vehicles.
