History
Sidney Carnegie Library
The Sidney Carnegie Library, a Carnegie library, was announced in 1913, following a $6,500 donation from the Carnegie Corporation. Construction of the library began the following year. The building, then known as Sidney Public Library officially opened in 1917. It was the first public library in Cheyenne County upon its opening. Following the opening of the current Sidney Public Library in 1966, the library closed and the building was repurposed for the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce. The building was later added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 3, 1991.
