RNA ligase (ATP)
In enzymology, an RNA ligase is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction ATP + n + m AMP + diphosphate + n+m. Their three substrates are ATP, n and m, and their three products are AMP, diphosphate and n+m.
These enzymes belong to the family of ligases, specifically those forming phosphoric-ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is poly:poly ligase . Other names in common use include polyribonucleotide synthase , RNA ligase, polyribonucleotide ligase and ribonucleic ligase.
As of late 2007, two structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes and.
