Mohra Sharif

Nestled in the pine forests of the Murree Hills, Mohra Sharif is a distinguished center of Sufi spirituality rooted in love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Established in the late nineteenth century, it represents the philosophy of Nisbat-e-Rasooli, a path of closeness to Allah through devotion and adherence to the Sunnah.
The spiritual foundation of Mohra Sharif was laid by Ghaus-ul-Ummat Hazrat Pir Muhammad Qasim Sahib , whose ascetic life and spiritual struggle transformed the area into a beacon of faith and guidance.
This mission was further established by Ghos-ul-Moazzam, Rahbar-e-Azam Silsila Nisbat Rasooli, Aala Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Nazir Ahmed Sahib , who formalized Nisbat-e-Rasooli as the central Sufi philosophy, emphasizing unity, self-purification, and service to humanity.
Under Sher Shah Ghazi, Salaar-e-Aala Silsila Nisbat Rasooli, Al-Haaj Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib , Mohra Sharif gained global reach. Renowned for his devotion to the Sunnah, he authored the Tafseer Haqaeq-ul-Qur’an, presenting Qur’anic interpretation through Nisbat-e-Rasooli ﷺ.
Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Gohar Nazir Gohar Sahib and Shahzada Ghulam Muhammad Jamal Nazir Sahib are the sons of Sher Shah Ghazi Al-Haaj Pir Haroon Rasheed Sahib . Leadership then passed to Khadim-e-Islam, Qutb-ul-Irshad, Ameer Silsila Nisbat Rasooli ﷺ, Al-Haaj Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Gohar Nazir Gohar Sahib, who continues serving the Ummah through spiritual guidance and welfare initiatives.

History

Mohra Sharif is a Sufi religious center located in the Murree Hills of Pakistan, established in the late nineteenth century and associated with the Nisbat-e-Rasooli 'ﷺ tradition. Its founding is attributed to Hazrat Pir Muhammad Qasim Sahib , whose religious activities led to the development of the site as a center for Sufi practice.
In
1912, Hazrat Pir Muhammad Qasim Sahib formally appointed Aala Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Nazir Ahmed Sahib as his spiritual successor at URS Sharif. From that time, Baba Ji publicly recognized him as his successor, and he came to be acknowledged across the region, among religious communities and spiritual leaders, as the designated heir.
The
formal appointment of Aala Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Nazir Ahmed Sahib as Sajjada Nashin took place in 1925 at URS Sharif during a large gathering attended by notable figures from various states. On this occasion, Hazrat Pir Muhammad Qasim Sahib '
publicly held his hand and declared him his spiritual successor and Sajjada Nashin, stating openly that Pir Nazir Ahmed’s spiritual stature and inner qualities surpassed his own.
The institutional framework of the tradition was later formalized by Aala Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Nazir Ahmed Sahib . He showed exceptional obedience and reverence toward his spiritual guide and elders throughout his life. He never displayed arrogance regarding his spiritual status, nor did he claim superiority or independence in spiritual matters.
Instead, he consistently sought guidance, answered questions with wisdom, and demonstrated humility. Visitors—both men and women—who came to Mohra Sharif in large numbers were received with compassion and guidance. His conduct reflected a balanced combination of spiritual authority and humility, marked by generosity, service, and sincere concern for people’s spiritual well-being, without personal desire for fame, wealth, or power.
On 4 November 1954, during the annual Urs, Aala Hazrat delivered a concluding address in which he stated that the Silsila Nisbat Rasooli was not affiliated with any political party or sectarian movement and that its activities were limited to religious instruction and social service. In the same address, he announced that Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid 'Sahib would assume responsibility for serving the community and continuing the activities of the Silsila Nisbat Rasooli. This announcement marked the formal beginning of the role of Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib in the leadership and administration of the order, alongside a public clarification of its non-political orientation.
Since 1960 after passing of Aala Hazrat Pir Nazir Ahmed Sahib, under the leadership of
Al-Haaj Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib , the center expanded its activities beyond the region, including the production of religious literature such as the Qur’anic commentary
Haqaeq-ul-Qur’an. Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib, the Sajjada Nasheen of Mohra Sharif, passed away in February 2022 after a period of illness at the age of 87, and was succeeded in his role by Pir Gohar Nazir.
The leadership of the Sufi order is currently held by
Al-Haaj Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Gohar Nazir Gohar Sahib', under whom Mohra Sharif continues to function as an active religious institution.
