Katie Miller
Katie Rose Waldman Miller is an American conservative political advisor who has served Republican politicians.
Miller served as a deputy press secretary at the United States Department of Homeland Security from 2017 to 2019 under U.S. President Donald Trump. She was the communications director for Vice President Mike Pence from 2020 to 2021 and acted as his press secretary from 2019 to 2020.
Miller was an advisor and spokesperson for the Department of Government Efficiency from January to May 2025, when she departed DOGE to work for Elon Musk in the private sector. She is married to presidential advisor Stephen Miller.
Early life and education
Katie Rose Waldman Miller was born Katie Rose Waldman in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 4, 1991. She is the daughter of attorney Glenn Waldman and Sheryl Waldman. She is Jewish. She attended Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida, graduating in 2010.In 2014, Miller earned her BA from the University of Florida, where she was active in the student government's Unite Party. In 2012, Miller and another student were found stealing copies of The Independent Florida Alligator from campus newspaper dispensers, after the publication reported a front-page story about then-football head coach Will Muschamp's endorsement of a rival party's candidate for student vice president. She attended George Washington University, where she earned a Master of Public Policy.
Career
Miller worked as a press assistant for the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2014, as press secretary for Senator Steve Daines beginning in January 2015, and as a spokeswoman for Senator Martha McSally before joining the staff as deputy press secretary for the United States Department of Homeland Security during the tenure of Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from November 2017 to February 2019.In that role, Miller repeatedly denied that DHS was separating children from their parents under the Trump administration family separation policy. In 2019, she was communications director for Martha McSally. Miller became the press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence on October 1, 2019.
In December 2024, she began work in the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk. She was appointed to the President's Intelligence Advisory Board in February 2025.
On May29, 2025, CBS News revealed that Miller would leave the Trump White House, to work on a full-time basis for Musk. Miller departed when Musk left and severed his communications on Twitter/X with her husband after a dispute began between Musk and the administration wherein her husband was a close communication link.
In August 2025, Miller announced that she was leaving her position as an advisor to Musk and starting her own podcast for conservative mothers, The Katie Miller Podcast.
In January 2026, she posted an image of a map of Greenland in the colors of the American flag, alongside the word "SOON" shortly after the United States military intervened in Venezuela and captured its president. In response, the Danish ambassador, Jesper Møller Sørensen, urged the United States of America to respect its territorial integrity, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the prime minister of Greenland, said Miller's post was "disrespectful", and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen issued a statement calling for the US to end its threats to annex Greenland.
Personal life
She married Stephen Miller on February 16, 2020, at Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C., with President Trump in attendance. She is a Conservative Jew. Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone officiated at the ceremony.On May 8, 2020, Trump announced that Miller had tested positive for COVID-19, but that she had not come into contact with Trump while she was contagious. When returning to work after recovering from COVID-19, Miller announced she was pregnant. In October, 2020, along with her husband, Miller again tested positive for COVID-19.
The Millers have a daughter, born in November 2020; this was followed by two sons born in February 2022 and September 2023.
