Der Faust


Der Faust, officially Deutscher Theaterpreis Der Faust, is a German theatre prize, a national prize from 2006. It is awarded annually by the organizations Deutscher Bühnenverein,, Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste and the state in which the award ceremony is held. The trophy was designed by the Austrian stage designer Erich Wonder.
A jury of mostly members of the Bühnenverein considers proposals from theatres which may not name their own productions. The Jury selects three nominations per category, from which members of the Deutschen Akademie der Darstellenden Künste elect the winners. The prize is awarded in eight categories:Regie Schauspiel Darstellerin/Darsteller Schauspiel Regie Musiktheater Sängerdarstellerin/Sängerdarsteller Musiktheater Choreografie Darstellerin/Darsteller Tanz Regie Kinder- und Jugendtheater Bühne/Kostüm
Additional optional awards are a prize for a life's work and Preis der Präsidentin.
