Brian Gutiérrez is a professional football player who plays as an attacking midfielder for Liga MX club Guadalajara. Born in the United States, he represents the [Mexico national soccer|football team|Mexico national team].

Club career

Chicago Fire

Born in Berwyn, Illinois, Gutiérrez began his career with the Chicago Fire youth academy in 2015. On March 9, 2020, Gutiérrez signed a homegrown player deal with the club's first team in Major League Soccer.
Gutiérrez made his professional debut for the Chicago Fire on August 20, 2020, against Columbus Crew, coming on as an 82nd-minute substitute in a 3–0 defeat.

Guadalajara

On December 12, 2025, Gutiérrez joined Mexican club Guadalajara for a reported fee of $5 million.

International career

United States

Gutiérrez has played for the U.S. youth national teams at multiple levels, including the Under-20 level. He was also in consideration for the USMNT's senior camp in December 2021.
On October 8, 2023, Gutiérrez was called up to the United States under-23 national team ahead of friendlies against Mexico and Japan.
In January 2025, Gutiérrez played a pair of friendly matches for the senior United States; the first being against Venezuela and last being against Costa Rica.

Switch to Mexico national team

On November 6, 2025 Gutierrez’s management announced the player was considering switching towards the Mexico national team.
On 15 January 2026, Gutiérrez was called up by Mexico and appeared in a friendly match against Panama on 22 January, the same day that FIFA officials authorized his allegiance switch to Mexico.

Personal life

Born in the United States, Gutiérrez is of Mexican descent through both of his parents, who are originally from Jalisco. He obtained his Mexican citizenship in 2025, making him eligible to play for the Mexican national football team.
