Bracey, Virginia
Bracey is a census-designated place in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, United States. It is located next to South Hill, La Crosse, and Brodnax, which are also in Mecklenburg County. The CDP had an estimated population of 1,554 in 2010.
History
Bracey is located along a former railroad mainline. The Richmond, Petersburg and Carolina Railroad, passing through Bracey from Petersburg, Virginia to Ridgeway Junction, was completed in 1900, at which point it was merged into the Seaboard Air Line. The railroad constructed a depot for Bracey, which was still standing as of 2021. By 1914, the population of Bracey was estimate by the railroad to be somewhere around 200. The line continued to operate until the 1980s, and today Bracey is along the abandoned portion of the CSX Norlina Subdivision.Geography and climate
