The station was opened in 1926, by the Oriental Railway.Services
TCDD Taşımacılık operates two daily trains, both from Istanbul, that stop at Alpullu, one international intercity train, to Bucharest or Sofia, and one regional train to Kapıkule.Between 1991 and March 2013 the Balkan Express,, Bulgarian State Railways, Serbian Railways and Hungarian State Railways linking Istanbul's Sirkeci station, Turkey and Budapest Keleti station, via Sofia, Bulgaria and Belgrade, Serbia, made scheduled stops at Alpullu.
Between July 2005 and February 2011 the Balkan Express, made scheduled stops at Alpullu.
