Waikato District Council


Waikato District Council is the territorial authority for the Waikato District of New Zealand.
The council is led by the mayor of Waikato, who is currently. There are also ward councillors.

Composition

Mayor was first elected as mayor in 2025, and prior to that first elected to the council in 2016, but failed to be elected as mayor in 2022.

History

The council was established in 1989, replacing Raglan County Council, Waikato County Council, Ngāruawāhia Borough Council, and Huntly Borough Council.
