In 2011, al-Sayyid al-Safi al-Musawi was elected secretary general. In 2013 they fought in Syria and against Daesh in Saladin Governorate, Tikrit and Fallujah. They are reportedly part of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, but they deny it. They congratulated the attacks on Israel, and launched rockets themselves.
