Tranquillity, California


Tranquillity is a census-designated place in Fresno County, California, United States. It is located southeast of Mendota, at an elevation of. The population was 805 at the 2020 census, up from 799 at the 2010 census. Tranquillity High School is the only high school in Tranquillity.

History

The first post office opened in Tranquillity in 1910.
The town received recognition during a September 29, 1970 episode of the long-running television show Hee Haw. It was part of the show's weekly "salute" feature, and co-host Buck Owens acknowledged the town's population, which at the time was 750.
The episode had Ray Charles and Lynn Anderson as musical guests.

2020

The 2020 United States census reported that Tranquillity had a population of 805. The population density was. The racial makeup of Tranquillity was 183 White, 2 African American, 5 Native American, 1 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 401 from other races, and 213 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 694 persons.
The whole population lived in households. There were 231 households, out of which 95 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 128 were married-couple households, 9 were cohabiting couple households, 51 had a female householder with no partner present, and 43 had a male householder with no partner present. 34 households were one person, and 14 were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 3.48. There were 181 families.
The age distribution was 253 people under the age of 18, 83 people aged 18 to 24, 199 people aged 25 to 44, 158 people aged 45 to 64, and 112 people who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 30.5years. For every 100 females, there were 102.3 males.
There were 248 housing units at an average density of, of which 231 were occupied. Of these, 126 were owner-occupied, and 105 were occupied by renters.

The racial makeup of Tranquillity was 504 White, 9 African American, 13 Native American, 2 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 251 from other races, and 20 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 637 persons.
The Census reported that 799 people lived in households, 0 lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 0 were institutionalized.
There were 229 households, out of which 120 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 141 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 21 had a female householder with no husband present, 20 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 15 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 0 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 38 households were made up of individuals, and 13 had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.49. There were 182 families ; the average family size was 3.98.
The population age distribution is 267 people under the age of 18, 55 people aged 18 to 24, 206 people aged 25 to 44, 177 people aged 45 to 64, and 94 people who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32.7 years. For every 100 females, there were 106.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.1 males.
