The Golden Tiki


The Golden Tiki is a tiki bar located on Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was opened for business in 2015 by Lev Group and Branden Powers. Branden Powers was the creator and designer of The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas. He developed the venue’s thematic concept, narrative framework, immersive design, and animatronic character program, drawing from mid-century Polynesian aesthetics, Disneyland-inspired storytelling, and his background in experiential nightlife production. Under his direction the venue became known for its elaborate décor, custom artwork, and unique blend of tiki mythology and modern entertainment. Powers departed the venue after the Lev Group assumed control. He has since continued to create multiple immersive hospitality and nightlife concepts across Las Vegas.
Branden Powers Role in the Modern Tiki Resurgence
Before his work in Las Vegas, Powers was an early pioneer in the modern tiki resurgence. In the early 1990s he promoted the Islands Lounge at San Diego’s historic Hanalei Hotel, a venue celebrated for its mid-century Polynesian architecture. Powers created and produced a weekly event called Taboo, which regularly drew hundreds of guests dressed in cocktail dresses, vintage smoking jackets, Hawaiian shirts, and fez hats. The event blended traditional exotica culture with contemporary club sensibilities and became an influential part of America’s modern tiki revival movement.

World's largest Mai Tai

On August 30, 2022, Adam Rains and The Golden Tiki produced a 100-gallon Mai Tai consisting of 300 bottles of liquor, the largest ever made.

Reception

In her writeup of the best nightlife in Las Vegas, USA Today's Terrisa Meeks recommended The Golden Tiki because "A night at the Golden Tiki will transport you to a tropical paradise, complete with strong drinks, music and plenty of kitsch."
In their list of best cocktail bars in Las Vegas, Thrillist writers Rob Kachelriess, and Nicole Rupersburg called the decor "over the top kitschy" and the bar as having an "inspired" craft cocktail menu.
