Tarris Reed
Tarris A. Reed Jr. is an American college basketball power forward for the UConn Huskies. He previously played for the Michigan Wolverines.
Early life and high school
As a sophomore, Reed averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. As a junior, he averaged 21.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game, earning him 2021 Greater St. Louis Player of the Year recognition from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The St. Louis American. Coming out of high school Reed was rated as a four-star recruit, the 13th ranked center, and the 69th overall player in the class of 2022. Reed committed to play college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines over offers from school such as Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Kansas.College career
Reed enrolled at the University of Michigan in 2022. As a sophomore, he tallied 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks in a win over 2023-24 [Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team|Iowa] on December 10, 2023. On January 4, 2024, Reed recorded his first career double-double versus 2023-24 [Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team|Minnesota], scoring 14 points and bringing down 11 rebounds. On January 18, he posted a career-high 20 points against 2023-24 [Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team|Illinois]. During the 2023–24 [Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team|2023–24 season], Reed played in 32 games with 31 starts, averaging nine points, a team-high 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game on 51.9 percent shooting. After the season, he entered the NCAA transfer portal.Reed transferred to UConn in the spring of 2024. He received the Big East Conference Big East Conference [Men's Basketball Sixth Man of the Year|Sixth Man of the Year] award in 2025.
