The 2020 United States census reported that Squirrel Mountain Valley had a population of 760. The population density was. The racial makeup of Squirrel Mountain Valley was 652 White, 3 African American, 29 Native American, 7 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 18 from other races, and 51 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 50 persons.
The whole population lived in households. There were 344 households, out of which 61 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 165 were married-couple households, 34 were cohabiting couple households, 79 had a female householder with no partner present, and 66 had a male householder with no partner present. 101 households were one person, and 75 were one person aged 65 or older.
