Sonny Styles


Alex "Sonny" Styles is an American college football linebacker for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Early life

Styles attended Pickerington Central High School in Pickerington, Ohio, where he notched 88 tackles with one going for a loss, a sack, two pass deflections, six interceptions, and a forced fumble in his career. On August 30, 2020, in a televised game against rival Pickerington High School North, he had nine tackles, an interception and blocked a punt. Styles also teamed with Devin Royal to help the basketball team win the 2022 OHSAA Division I state championship. He was rated a five-star recruit and committed to play college football at Ohio State University over other schools such as Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss.

College career

As a freshman in 2022, Styles recorded nine tackles, including one tackle for loss.
Ahead of the 2023 season, he was named a starting safety for the Buckeyes. In his first start that season he played 49 snaps and made four tackles, 1.5 of which were for loss, as Ohio State defeated Indiana.
He was later converted to linebacker.

Personal life

His dad is former NFL linebacker Lorenzo Styles, and his brother is Ohio State cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr.
