Second Army (Turkey)
The Second Army of the Turkish Army has headquarters in Malatya. It protects Anatolia and it patrols the border with Syria, Iraq and Iran. Modern Turkish corps are referred to in TGS literature in Ottoman Turkish numerals. It is not clear when the change occurred.
An arbitrary date of 1945 has been chosen as the point at which to start referring to corps in Ottoman Turkish numerals.

The 1970s and operation of Cyprus
From August 1970 to August 1972 Semih Sancar commanded 2nd Army Command.The ground forces detailed for the operation were put under the command of the 6th Corps/Second Army. They included the "Cakmak Special Strike Force", a brigade-level unit which would conduct the amphibious landing, the Commando Brigade, the Parachute Brigade, the 39th Infantry Division, the 28th motorised infantry division and elements of the 5th Armoured Brigade and the Jandarma. About 6,000 Turkish Cypriot fighters were stationed inside the Gönyeli enclave.
