Scarbro is a census-designated place and coal town in Fayette [County, West Virginia|Fayette County], West Virginia, United States. Scarbro is southwest of Oak [Hill, West Virginia|Oak Hill]. Scarbro has a post office with ZIP code 25917. As of the 2020 [United States census|2020 census], its population was 461.

History

The community was named for the fact a large share of the first settlers were named Scarbrough, which was said to recall the English town-name of Scarborough, [North Yorkshire|Scarborough] in Yorkshire. Scarbro was incorporated in 1901.
