San Joaquin is a city in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 3,701 at the 2020 census, down from 4,001 at the 2010 census. The nearest high school in the area is Tranquillity High School in Tranquillity. San Joaquin is located southwest of Kerman, at an elevation of 174 feet.

The 2020 United States census reported that San Joaquin had a population of 3,701. The population density was. The racial makeup of San Joaquin was 21.9% White, 0.9% African American, 1.6% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 59.7% from other races, and 15.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 95.6% of the population.The whole population lived in households. There were 904 households, out of which 63.6% included children under the age of 18, 57.2% were married-couple households, 4.6% were cohabiting couple households, 25.3% had a female householder with no partner present, and 12.8% had a male householder with no partner present. 8.0% of households were one person, and 4.4% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 4.09. There were 811 families.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,825 persons.The whole population lived in households, no one lived in non-institutionalized group quarters and no one was institutionalized.
There were 882 households, 660 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 601 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 163 had a female householder with no husband present, 51 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 47 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 1 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 48 households were one person and 20 had someone living alone who was 65 or older.
