Sahy, Ukraine
Sahy is a small village in the Kherson Raion of the Kherson Oblast in Ukraine with a pre-war population of 770.
It has an area of. Sahy is located around 8.5 miles south-east of the city of Kherson.
The village's time-zone is UTC+2, which is standard across Ukraine except for the separatist Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, which observe Moscow Standard time.
History
The village was founded sometime in the second half of the nineteenth century by people from Penza and Kaluga, along with some from the Right-bank Ukraine and modern Moldova. The Soviet Union took over the village in January 1918. Later, during the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by German troops from 11 September 1941 to 4 November 1943.The village is currently occupied by Russian forces, due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Due to the Destruction of the Kakhovka Dam on June 6, 2023, the village was temporarily flooded.
