Różyna, Opole Voivodeship


Różyna is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Lewin Brzeski, within Brzeg County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.

History

The village dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was part of Piast-ruled Poland, to soon join the Holy Roman Empire. It was to stay part of Germany until 1945. The local Saint Nicholas church was mentioned in 1310. Różyna was the location of a motte-and-bailey castle from the 14th-16th century, which is now an archaeological site. In the 18th century, the village was annexed by Prussia, before it became part of Poland following Germany's defeat in World War II.
