Rahimidin Zahari


Rahimidin Zahari was a Malaysian poet.

Biography

In 2003, he graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Department of Fine Arts. From 1988 to 1989, he participated in the literary creativity programme at the same university.
He participated in the Second ASEAN Writers’ Conference in the Philippines and the Istiqlal II Festival in Indonesia, represented Malaysia at the International Poetry Festival “Kuala Lumpur 2002”, and took part in the “South Korea–ASEAN” Poetry Festival in Seoul. He was also keen on traditional art forms. In the later years of his life, he served as editor of the quarterly theatre magazine Pentas and as treasurer of the National Writers’ Association.

Creativity

In addition to poetry, he also wrote plays and novels. One of the plays "Rebab Berbisik" was successfully shown in April. 2011 on the small stage of the prestigious "Palace of Culture" in Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the short stories is the correlation of tradition and modernity, sadness about the disappearing traditions of Malay culture, especially the shadow puppet theater wayang".
