The name later became associated with the Maples chain of stores. The brand is presumed to have taken its name after a man that died during a tragic industrial accident in 1893, which was reported in newspapers across parts of Australia. These pianos were built to be sold as budget, lower-end models and were manufactured by an unknown company, likely imported from Germany.-
