Phil Boggs


Phillip George Boggs was a diver and Olympic gold medalist from the United States; he won the 1976 Summer Olympics – Men's 3 metre springboard|3 m springboard] event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.
Boggs was born in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Firestone High School in 1967. He graduated from Florida State University in 1971 and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for five years, leaving as a Captain #U.S. Army.2C U.S. [Air Force.2C and U.S. Marine Corps|captain] in 1976. He was an instructor at the United States Air [Force Academy|U.S. Air Force Academy] and graduated from the University of [Michigan Law School] in 1979.
Boggs was inducted in the International [Swimming Hall of Fame].
Diagnosed with lymphoma, he died at age 40 in 1990 in Miami, Florida.
