Paul Tröger
Paul Tröger was a German chess player and sport journalist, West Germany Chess Championship winner.
Biography
Paul Tröger won three medals in West Germany Chess Championship: gold, silver and bronze. He won international chess tournaments in Kirchheim unter Teck and Kapfenberg.Paul Tröger played for West Germany in the Chess Olympiads:
- In 1958, at second board in the 13th Chess Olympiad in Munich,
- In 1962, at fourth board in the 15th Chess Olympiad in Varna.
- In 1961, at fifth board in the 2nd European Team Chess Championship in Oberhausen,
- In 1965, at sixth board in the 3rd European Team Chess Championship in Hamburg.
In the period from 1951 to 1955 Paul Tröger was the editor-in-chief of sports magazine Kicker. Later he was the editor of the publications in football magazine Fußball-Woche and chess magazine Deutschen Schachblätter. In 1985, Paul Tröger received the media prize of the German Chess Union.
