Parkway first appeared as a census designated place in the 2010 U.S. census formed from formed from partof the deleted Parkway-South Sacramento CDP and from area detached from Sacramento city.
The 2020 United States census reported that Parkway had a population of 15,962. The population density was. The racial makeup of Parkway was 20.4% White, 16.9% African American, 1.6% Native American, 18.8% Asian, 1.6% Pacific Islander, 28.8% from other races, and 11.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 43.9% of the population.
