Physical properties

Osmium chloride forms a black dimeric solid, isomorphic with rhenium(V) chloride. is sparingly soluble in non-polar solvents. It is soluble in POCl₃ to form a red-brown solution, which can crystallize OsCl₅·POCl₃.
