Geography

The Bruce Highway enters the locality from the south-east and exits to the north.
The North Coast railway line forms the north-eastern boundary of the locality, entering from the north-east and exiting to the north ; no railway stations serve the locality.
The land use is a mixture of crop growing and grazing on native vegetation with some rural residential housing.

History

Mount Surround State School opened 1 April 1932 and closed 3 May 1968. It was on the northern corner of Reed Beds Road and Piralko Road.
