Mehmet Yakan

Mehmet Yakan is a Turkish karateka competing in the kata discipline. He is married to fellow Turkish karateka Tuba Yakan.

Career

Yakan represented Turkey at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he won one of the bronze medals in the men's individual kata event. In the bronze medal match, he defeated French competitor Minh Dack 4–1. Earlier in the group stage, he beat Tural Baljanli of Azerbaijan and Adrian Guta of Romania 5–0, and Minh Dack 4–1, advancing to the semifinals.
At the 2015 European Karate Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey, Yakan reached the final in men's individual kata. He won the silver medal after losing 4–1 to Damian Quintero of Spain in the gold medal bout.
