Martin Case


Martin Case is an American Australian composer, multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and educator. He is known for integrating world music traditions with contemporary electronic and acoustic production. Case has composed for dance, film, and ensemble works across the U.S., Australia, and internationally, and is the founder of the multicultural percussion ensemble Visionary and its Australian counterpart Visionary-Steel.

Biography

He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, specializing in composition, production, and performance.
After graduating, he worked as an educator, composer, and performer for institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, and Boston Ballet, where he served as an accompanist and collaborator on various projects. He held a programmatic position with arts organizations such as the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Between 1996 and 2013, he released several albums combining traditional rhythms with modern production. In collaboration with saxophonist Joe Brogan, he released:Awakening 4 Directions The December Sessions – Martin Case with Love and Light Performance Offering – Visionary
In mid-2017, he moved to Melbourne, Australia. His first commission in Australia was as professor and curriculum writer for JMC Academy from 2017 to 2019. He operates Martin Case Media Productions, is Band Director at Music Valley, Artistic Director of Visionary-Steel, and is founder of the Cherry Lake Cultural Series.
He was included in Marquis Who's Who in recognition of his contributions to music production, education, and composition.
