Marissa Yardley Clifford is an American writer and visual artist.
Early life and education
Clifford was born in 1992 in Starkville, Mississippi. She attended UCLA where she studied art history and digital humanities.Writing
Clifford's writing career began in 2006, when she began writing for a local newspaper. Her work has appeared in publications such as Vice and The Culture Trip. She has published extensively for Curbed and has appeared on local news networks discussing issues like gentrification and the digital divide in MacArthur Park.In addition to journalism, Clifford has worked with major advertising agencies including Media Arts Lab, 72andSunny, and R/GA. She has concepted and written campaigns in collaboration with artists and directors such as Damien Chazelle, FKA twigs, and Megadeth. Her campaign for Megadeth, titled Nature Is Metal, received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Commercial in 2019, earning Clifford membership in the Television Academy.
