    In Manipuri tradition, Laishang denotes a place where the Jumu'ah prayer is performed, while Penjaga refers to smaller prayer houses used only for daily Salat. By 1819 CE, 13 Laishangs and 11 Penjagas were reported across the Muslim settlements of Manipur.
