Madhya Pradesh is one of the large state in India by population, Out of total population, 72.37% of population lives in Urban area and 27.63% lives in Rural area. There are 416 cities in Madhya Pradesh, out of which 33 cities have population more than 1,00,000. There are 16 municipal corporations, 99 municipalities and the rest are municipal councils in the state.

This is a list of urban agglomerations and cities, with a population above 100,000 as per the 2011 census in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Urban agglomeration

In the census of India 2011, an urban agglomeration was defined as follows:
"An urban agglomeration is a continuous urban spread constituting a town and its adjoining outgrowths, or two or more physically contiguous towns together with or without outgrowths of such towns. An Urban Agglomeration must consist of at least a statutory town and its total population should not be less than 20,000 as per the 2001 Census. In varying local conditions, there were similar other combinations which have been treated as urban agglomerations satisfying the basic condition of contiguity."

  • Indore Urban Agglomeration includes Indore, Bhangarh, Tigaria Badshah, Nipanya, Talawali Chanda, Kanadia, Tigaria Rao, Bhicholi Mardana, Palda, Bank, Hukmakhedi, Bangarda Chhota, Ahirkhedi, Piplya Kumar, Bangarda Bada, Limbodi, Lasudiya Mori and Bhicholi Hapsi.
  • Bhopal Urban Agglomeration includes Bhopal and Kolar.
  • Jabalpur Urban Agglomeration includes Jabalpur, Regwa, Khairi, Rachai, Lamti. Tilhari, Kugawan, Andhuwa, Chhiwlaha, Bhatauli, Jabalpur Cantt, OF Khamaria, GCF Jabalpur, Bilpura, Vehicle Fac Area Jabalpur, Suhagi, Manegoan, Pipariya, Karmeta, Amkhera, Maharajpur and Madai.
  • Gwalior Urban Agglomeration includes Gwalior and Morar Cantt.
  • Sagar Urban Agglomeration includes Sagar, Sagar, Gaur Nagar, Sagar Cantt, Rajakhedi, Makronia Buzurg, Bhainsa, and Kapuria.
  • Satna Urban Agglomeration includes Satna and Satna Rly Colony.
  • Ratlam Urban Agglomeration includes Ratlam and Ratlam Rly. Colony .
  • Chhindwara Urban Agglomeration includes Chhindwara, Khajari, Khapabhat, Kukadajagat, Chandangaon, Seoni Pranmoti, Emaliya Bohata and Lonia Karbal.
  • Chhatarpur Urban Agglomeration includes Chhatarpur, Soura, Bagota, Moraha and Amanganj.
  • Damoh Urban Agglomeration includes Damoh, Imlai, Singpur Damoh, Chopra Ryt, Chopra Khurd, Dharampura and Hirdepur.
  • Khargone Urban Agglomeration includes Khargone, Sukhpuri, Dhamkheda, Rahimpura, Aarampura, Dabariya, Kajalpur, Khedi Buzurg, Sangvi and Jaitpur.
  • Neemuch Urban Agglomeration includes Neemuch and Rly Colony .
  • Itarsi Urban Agglomeration includes Itarsi, Pathrauta, Bhilakhedi and Meharagaon.
  • Sehore Urban Agglomeration includes Sehore and Sherpur .
