In 1965, it was closed due to disrepair. It reopened in 1969. September 18, 1989, Hurricane Hugo severely damaged the library, resulting in the loss of $975,000 worth of books. It did not reopen again until 1995. The library has reportedly closed again, as of October 2018. |
