Lindy Davies


Lindy Davies works in various roles in theatre, film and television, and is well known for creating an approach to performance for the intuitive actor. Lindy was the head of drama at the former Victorian College of the Arts for over 11 years until 2007, and worked as a performance consultant on films including Afterglow and Away From Her with Julie Christie..In 1985, she won the AACTA [Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role|AFI (AACTA) Award for Best Supporting Actress] for the 1986 film Malcolm. As an actress, she also played Ruth Ballinger in the Australian soap opera ''Prisoner''

Career

Born in Melbourne, Victoria, Davies has influenced many actors, including Cate Blanchett, Harriet Walter, and Julie Christie. She directed Blanchett in Electra at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992, and worked with Christie as a consultant on the Dennis Potter TV series Karaoke and the films Hamlet, Afterglow, Away From Her and Glorious 39.
Davies, who has said that intuition is the defining principle of her process.
has conducted master classes for actors, writers and directors at the Canadian Film Centre from 2010 - 2025 and continues to offer intensives for actors, directors, and writers throughout the world.
