Library of Congress Subject Headings (article)

Library of Congress Subject Headings is a scholarly work, published in 1982 in ''Cataloging & Classification Quarterly''. The main subjects of the publication include World Wide Web, controlled vocabulary, cataloging, subject access, computer science, authority control, information retrieval, Search engine indexing, library science, lexicography, subject, Library of Congress Subject Headings, selection (genetic algorithm), phase, identification, and Library of Congress. These problems are attributable to both Cutter's Rules for a Dictionary Catalog (the theoretical model upon which LCSH are based), and the unsystematic manner in which LC has applied Cutter's Rules in constructing entries for its subject catalog.
