Lewiston is a census-designated place in Trinity County, California, United States. Its population is 1,222 as of the 2020 census, up from 1,193 from the 2010 census.
History
A post office called Lewiston has been in operation since 1854. The community was named after Benjamin Franklin Lewis, adopted son of town founder Tom Palmer, who with Lewis ran a gold mining operation on the Trinity River in the early days of the Gold Rush.Geography

The 2020 United States census reported that Lewiston had a population of 1,222. The population density was. The racial makeup of Lewiston was 987 White, 4 African American, 39 Native American, 8 Asian, 4 Pacific Islander, 28 from other races, and 152 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 70 persons.The whole population lived in households. There were 532 households, out of which 106 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 237 were married-couple households, 49 were cohabiting couple households, 110 had a female householder with no partner present, and 136 had a male householder with no partner present. 163 households were one person, and 82 were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.3. There were 317 families.
