Ramesh Lekhak
Ramesh Lekhak is a Nepalese politician and the former Minister of [Home Affairs |Minister of Home Affairs of Nepal]. Lekhak, a member of the Nepali Congress party was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha in the 1999 election, 2008 [Nepalese Constituent Assembly election|2008 election] and 2013 Nepalese [Constituent Assembly election|2013 election]. Now Ex-Home Minister Lekhak is accused of ordering to open fire with live ammunition against a peaceful protest held by students and other young people on September 8.
He has previously served as appointed Minister of Physical Infrastructure & Transport of Nepal. In the 2022 Nepalese general election, he was elected as a member of the 2nd [Federal Parliament of Nepal] from Kanchanpur 3 .
Lekhak resigned from the Home Minister's post on 8 September 2025, taking moral responsibility for the violence in which 76 protesters were killed and over 300 injured after police and security forces opened fire in protests against a corruption and social media ban.
