Joseph M. Tierney
Joseph M. Tierney was an American politician who served as a member of the Boston [City Council] from 1972 to 1987. He was the President of the City Council in 1977, 1979, and from 1983 to 1985. He was a candidate for Mayor of Boston in 1987 [Boston mayoral election|1987], losing to incumbent Raymond Flynn, 67% to 33%. He was the father of actress Maura Tierney.
