John Schiechl


John George Schiechl was an American professional football player who was a center in the National Football League and the All-America Football Conference. He played college football for the Santa Clara Broncos, earning consensus All-American honors in 1939. He was selected in the second round of the 1940 NFL draft. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.
Schiechl was born in San Francisco, California, where he attended Balboa High School before matriculating to Santa Clara University. He served in World War II for the United States Navy before rejoining the NFL in 1945.
