Indiana University Auditorium


Indiana University Auditorium, is a 3,200-seat performing arts venue located at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. It is situated in IU's Fine Arts Plaza alongside the Lilly Library and the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design.
Construction on IU Auditorium began in 1939 as a part of the Federal Works Agency Projects. It officially opened its doors March 22, 1941.
Today, IU Auditorium presents Broadway touring acts, popular musical artists, comedians, classical musicians and more. Over the years, it has hosted many notable artists, including Marian Anderson in 1942, The New York Philharmonic in '49, Ella Fitzgerald in '67, Ray Charles in '70, the late Dan Fogelberg in '77, Chicago in '82, John Mellencamp in '84 and '97, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (band) in '86, The Breeders in '94, Bob Dylan in '95, speaker Bill Gates in '98, rapper Nelly in '01, Umphrey's McGee in '05, comedian Jim Gaffigan in '07, Robin Williams in '09, John Legend in '12, Chance the Rapper in '14, REO Speedwagon in '15, comedian Nick Offerman in '15, and Chicago bluesman Buddy Guy in '16.
