Hayley Squires


Hayley Squires is an English actress and playwright, best known for her work in the Ken Loach film I, Daniel Blake. Squires has also appeared in Call the Midwife, Southcliffe, Complicit, Blood Cells, A Royal Night Out, Murder, Collateral, Adult Material, The Essex Serpent and Great Expectations.
For I, Daniel Blake, Squires was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. For Adult Material, Squires was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress.

Early life and education

Hayley Squires was born in in Forest Hill, South London, and grew up with her mother, father, and older brother. Her mother was a cook at her school and her father managed a video shop. The family moved to Kent when she was 14.
She trained at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup and graduated in 2010 with BA Acting, alongside best friend and fellow actor David Carlyle.

Career

Squires' first play, Vera Vera Vera, was produced by the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 2012.
