Grace Vaughan
Grace Sydney Vaughan was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party (Western [Australian">Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch)">Labor Party (Western [Australian Branch)|Labor Party] member of the Western Australian [Legislative Council|Legislative Council] of Western Australia from 1974 to 1980. Prior to entering politics, she was a social worker, holding degrees from the University of [New South Wales] and the University of [Western Australia]. Vaughan entered parliament at the 1974 Western [Australian state election|1974 state election], and served a single six-year term before being defeated at the 1980 [Western Australian state election|1980 election]. Before she and Margaret McAleer were elected in 1974, only two other women had ever served in the Legislative Council. After leaving parliament, Vaughan served as president of the International [Federation of Social Workers] from 1983 to her death in 1984.
