Francesco Corti


Francesco Corti is an Italian harpsichordist and conductor specialized on Baroque music. Since 2023, he serves as the musical director of Drottningholms Slottsteater.

Career

Francesco Corti was born into a musical family in Arezzo. He studied organ in Perugia, then harpsichord in Geneva and Amsterdam. One of his teachers war Dutch harpsichordist Bob van Asperen.
As a soloist, he has performed in recitals and concerts throughout Europe, North America, the Far East, and New Zealand. He performed at important festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Bachfest Leipzig, the Musikfest Bremen, and the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. He was invited to prestigious concert halls as the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Centre for [Fine Arts, Brussels|Bozar] in Brussels, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Since 2007, he has been a member of Les Musiciens du Louvre, with whom he has undertaken numerous concert tours. He collaborated with renowned ensembles such as Ensemble Zefiro, Harmonie Universelle, Elyma Ensemble, Musica Ad Rhenum, Les Talens Lyriques, and Le Concert des Nations. He regularly appears as conductor of Les Musiciens du Louvre and has also led two European tours with the Holland Baroque Society. He is also guest conductor of Il Pomo d'Oro, Freiburger Barockorchester, The English Concert, Kammerorchester Basel and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
Since 2023, he conducts the summer opera productions at Drottningholm Palace Theatre in Sweden — The Fairy-Queen by Purcell in 2023, Armide by Lully in 2024, and Orpheus by Telemann in 2025.
He gave masterclasses all over Europe, in Latin America and in Asia. Since September 2016, he is professor of harpsichord at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He recorded several CDs.
