Forest Lake, Illinois
Forest Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Ela Township of Lake County, Illinois, United States. It is about northwest of downtown Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 1,784. The community was founded in 1935 as a vacation community for Chicago residents.
Geography
Forest Lake is located in southwestern Lake County. It is bordered to the north, west, and south by Hawthorn Woods, and to the east and south by Kildeer. The village of Lake Zurich boundary comes within of the southwest corner of the CDP.According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Forest Lake has a total area of, of which is land and is water, consisting of the community's namesake water body.
Demographics
As of the 2020 census there were 1,784 people, 529 households, and 420 families residing in the CDP. The population density was. There were 681 housing units at an average density of. The racial makeup of the CDP was 84.36% White, 0.67% African American, 0.17% Native American, 4.43% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 2.69% from other races, and 7.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.62% of the population.There were 529 households, out of which 21.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.89% were married couples living together, 15.50% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.60% were non-families. 16.64% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.59% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 2.44.
The CDP's age distribution consisted of 19.8% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 19.2% from 25 to 44, 46.4% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49.8 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.9 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $87,232, and the median income for a family was $105,588. Males had a median income of $56,597 versus $26,952 for females.
