Fairmead, California


Fairmead is a census-designated place in Madera County, California, United States. It is located northwest of Madera, at an elevation of, and bordered to the northwest by Chowchilla. The population was 1,235 at the 2020 census.
A post office operated at Fairmead from 1913 to 1940. The community is impacted by the California High-Speed Rail, as the planned route will dislocate residents.

The 2020 United States census reported that Fairmead had a population of 1,235. The population density was. The racial makeup of Fairmead was 373 White, 72 African American, 35 Native American, 7 Asian, 2 Pacific Islander, 488 from other races, and 258 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 875 persons.
The whole population lived in households. There were 346 households, out of which 153 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 186 were married-couple households, 18 were cohabiting couple households, 73 had a female householder with no partner present, and 69 had a male householder with no partner present. 54 households were one person, and 29 were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 3.57. There were 271 families.
The age distribution was 354 people under the age of 18, 123 people aged 18 to 24, 315 people aged 25 to 44, 298 people aged 45 to 64, and 145 people who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 33.8years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males.
