Exodus Wallet
Exodus is a cryptocurrency wallet available on desktop and mobile platforms. It was founded in 2015 by JP Richardson and Daniel Castagnoli. Exodus wallet supports digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. It is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and as a browser extension.
The wallet supports hardware-wallet integration. The app integrates with hardware wallets provided by another company, Trezor.
History
Exodus was founded in 2015 by programmer JP Richardson and designer Daniel Castagnoli.Exodus Movement, Inc., headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, operates as a remote company. In April 2021, the company raised $60 million in equity tokenization offering, becoming the first company to do a crypto-only public equity offering. The company is publicly traded on the NYSE American under the ticker EXOD and in June 2025 held a corporate treasury including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and SOL.
According to Bogdan Kagan writing for finance magnates, users retain control of private keys which are encrypted locally. It allows staking for select tokens, NFT management, and fiat on‑off ramps via partnerships. It supports altcoins including Aragon, EOS, and Golem.
The first public release occurred in mid‑2016. Exodus conducted an equity offering for digital shares in May 2021 using Algorand-based EXIT tokens, becoming the first U.S. company to have its common stock tokenized.
