Early life and education
Hara was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Issei parents. He completed his early education at Royal School and Punahou Academy. He studied engineering at the University of Hawai‘i before transitioning to architecture at the University of Southern California, graduating in 1935.Career
Hara's professional career commenced under the mentorship of architects Claude Stiehl and C.W. Dickey. His experiences laid the foundation for his architectural style, characterized by the integration of Asian design motifs and a commitment to equity within the profession.
