Enrique Chediak


Enrique Chediak ASC is an Ecuadorian cinematographer, who works mostly in American features.
He was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography for his work on 127 Hours.

Early life and education

Chediak was born in Quito, Ecuador. He studied communication science in Santiago de Chile and photography in Madrid before studying film at New York University from 1992 to 1996.

Career

His first film as cinematographer was American Southern—released in 1995 and directed by John Joshua Clayton.
Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, he worked on other indie films like The Faculty, Boiler Room, The Safety of Objects, Brown Sugar, and A Home at the End of the World. He shot his first film in his native Ecuador, the thriller Crónicas, in 2004.
In 2007, he shot the horror film 28 Weeks Later. His work impressed executive producer Danny Boyle, who hired him to shoot his film 127 Hours, collaborating with his usual cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle. The two earned multiple accolades, including a British Academy Film Award nomination for Best Cinematography.
